The Cure

The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears or the sea.

Pressing Issues

My brother was down from Perth the other weekend for what seemed like a coffee expedition. He is convinced the best coffee in the world is a Cimba from Cimbalinos in Cottesloe (which is damn good) but I still wanted to prove that there an other establishments that make an acceptable cappuccino. Hello Manchester Press.

I had the chorizo bagel even though we had literally just eaten... I just can't come to places like this and not eat. So good.

Pacos Tacos

It was Grace's birthday celebrations and our night started with a glass of red at Siglo on an unseasonably nice winter night. What a nice place to admire a full moon and hot people in suits - many a 'young professional' as my mum would say.

Craving some solids, we headed up to Pacos Tacos of Bourke St, near William. I'm loving the latino food explosion - I don't think I had even really had proper mexican food before I moved to Melbourne. Not even one mexican place comes to mind when I think of Perth. Well there might be now but definitely not when I moved. Once unchartered territory, I literally have Mexican at least once a fortnight but I still have some places to try - Mamasita (will I ever get a table?), Bluecorn and Fonda.

Anyway Pacos Tacos is perfect for a later night drink and snack. I think I could live off corn and sangria. Well I could live off THIS corn anyway - is it embarrassing to order corn and then go back and order more corn?

Beachy Keen

Benah's washed out beach print silk scarf says everything about how I want to be dressing this summer - relaxed, homely, simple and small details that would only be noticed with a lingering glance.

Sorry I Died.

But now I've come back to life! The combination of starting my surgical rotation + crappy weather + no internet connection + basically all my friends evacuating Melbourne have meant that my days are more mundane than insane. But anyway my bro came to visit me this weekend so any coffees were had. Day 1 - Yellow Bird, Market Lane Coffee, and St Ali Coffee at Gramercy Bistro.

We got into the op-shopping spirit and Luke bought these pedophile glasses for $9. What a bargain.

Festive Pony

Sorry for the mini hiatus. My life has been very all consuming at the moment. Work, Magic Mike... Mainly Magic Mike. God that is the best movie ever. My friend Shnedha and I have been obsessed with the Ginuwine 'Pony' song which seems to be appropriate to sing in any situation. Update: Hot people are also now called ponies i.e. channing tatum is a pony. He is like the king pony.

Here's Looking At You Kid

An evening stroll out in the city. This is my new photography thing - go stand opposite your friend and take pictures at the same time. It's so much fun. Of course I am also making a statement about modern society but whatevs... I also fell in love with a busker that night.

+ bonus picture of the jacket. I'm obsessed.

Pour Kids

Yummy breakfast at the Pour Kids and shopping on High street. Is that not the coolest coffee machine you've ever seen?

But the coolest thing you've never seen (until now) is this jacket. It was a handy 50% off in the Camilla and Marc sale... Man I wish I could high five myself.

To Market, To Market

Foodgasm at Queen Victoria Markets. I got so sad when I couldn't eat anymore because I just wanted to try everything!

1/ I think my house could go a pink cactus
2-3/ Mexican times at La Cantina. I couldn't enough of the Jarritos. Will have to find a place I can bulk-buy these.
4-5/ Celebrity voodoo dolls. My favourite QVM stall. We hogged the tabled for literally 20 minutes trying to guess every character
6/ Bamboo curtains
7/Ummm... I have no explanation. We saw this guy from across the road and immediately ran over and started following behind as he walked taking pictures. You just don't see shit like this everyday.
8-11/ American doughnuts! This had the longest line so we knew it must be good. I'm not a giant donut fan but damn I would go back for these. So sugary and jammy - can't you see it all in Shez's face? The best thing was watching them make it. The guy uses a cookie cutter to cut and throws these little doughy balls to the chick next to him, all in one motion, who frantically arranges them on the tray for baking. I got a picture of one mid-air... that took a while.
9/ This is the most random chemist ever - selling ukuleles. Pharmacist after my own heart
10/Fresh dip.. hmmm
11/ Salami heaven
